Calm Home Support Programme

Calm Home Support Programme

Calm Home Support Programme
We are absolutely delighted to be able to offer the Calm Home Support Programme, and it genuinely would not have been possible without the support of Scottish Ministers, the Borders Local Action Group (LAG) and Scottish Borders Council through the Community Led Local Development (CLLD) fund. We are so grateful.
Ten households across Peebles and the Scottish Borders will receive completely free, hands-on practical support from us, and we cannot wait to get started.

What is it?
The Calm Home Support Programme is a free, practical in-home support service for people who are finding their home environment hard to manage. We come to you, we work alongside you, and we help you get on top of things at your own pace and without any judgement.
Whether it is a kitchen that has become unusable, a bedroom that no longer feels like your own, or a home that is just completely overwhelming to be in, we are here to help you reset and move forward.

Who is it for?
This programme is for adults and families in Peebles and the Scottish Borders who are struggling at home. That might be because of:
  • Poor mental wellbeing linked to their home environment
  • Overwhelm, burnout or a difficult life transition
  • Neurodivergence including ADHD, autism or executive functioning difficulties
  • Bereavement, illness or reduced mobility
  • Family stress or caring responsibilities
  • Isolation or reduced support networks
  • Clutter that is significantly affecting daily life
You do not need a diagnosis. You do not need to be in crisis. If your home is getting on top of you, please get in touch.

What's included?
Every household we support will receive:
  • An initial conversation by phone, video or WhatsApp so we can understand what would help most
  • One focused session of around five to six hours with both of us working alongside you
  • Practical decluttering and organising of a key space in your home
  • Donation and recycling support. We take everything away with us on the day
  • Practical systems and guidance to help you keep on top of things going forward
  • Follow-up check-ins at one month, three months and six months
If you would like to continue working with us after your funded session, we also offer private home organising and decluttering services. Just get in touch and we can have a chat.

Is it really free?
Yes, completely. Thanks to funding from Scottish Ministers through the Borders Local Action Group (LAG) and administered by Scottish Borders Council, we are able to offer this service at absolutely no cost to the households we support. There is no catch and nothing to pay at any point.

How to get support
Referrals come through a professional or support worker. If you think this could help you, please speak to your GP, social prescriber, school, pastoral support staff or any other support service you are already connected with and ask them to get in touch with us.
You are also very welcome to contact us directly for a chat. We are happy to talk things through and help you figure out if this is the right support for you.

For professionals and referrers
We are really pleased to be working alongside local professionals and support services as part of this programme. If you work with people who might benefit, we would love to hear from you. We are here to complement existing support, not replace it, and we are always happy to work collaboratively with your team.

Who can refer?
We welcome referrals from:
  • GP practices and social prescribing teams
  • Health visitors and community nurses
  • Schools, pastoral support staff and teachers
  • Community mental health teams
  • Citizens Advice and welfare support services
  • Women's Aid
  • Children's services and family support organisations
  • Housing associations and housing officers
  • Carers organisations
  • Community groups, churches and third-sector organisations

How to make a referral
1  Download or request our referral form.  We can send it straight to you, just get in touch.
2  Complete and return it.  Email to [email protected] or send via WhatsApp.
3  We will be in touch.  We aim to respond within five working days to discuss suitability and next steps.
All referrals go through a short suitability conversation before we confirm a place. We will always contact you before any home visit takes place.
Places are limited to ten households.
