At the start of April, we will be celebrating one whole year of Lighten The Load, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful, proud and a little bit emotional.

​This past year has been more rewarding than we could ever have imagined. The support, trust and encouragement we’ve received from our clients, collaborators and this community has meant everything to us. Being invited into people’s homes, especially during such tender, life-changing moments is a privilege we never take lightly.

Lighten The Load has given us a fresh start, allowed us to do work we genuinely love together, and helped so many people create calmer, more supportive homes. That feels worth celebrating.

So, to say thank you, we wanted to give something truly meaningful back.

We’re gifting one “Welcome Home, Little One” package (worth £462) to a mum-to-be due in March or April, and we’re inviting nominations.

We know that preparing for a new baby isn’t always about picture-perfect nurseries. Sometimes the baby will be in the corner of a bedroom, a spare room, or wherever space allows  and that’s exactly who this support is for. This is about helping real people in real homes.

What’s included
• Decluttering and organising the existing space
• Folding and organising baby clothes and essentials
• Creating simple, easy-to-use storage systems
• Assembling flat-pack furniture where needed 
• Setting up a practical feeding station (breast or bottle)
• Creating a simple memory box starter for keepsakes
• Helping responsibly recycle or remove items no longer needed
• Helping the home feel calmer and more ready for a new arrival

The package has been designed and created by Lighten The Load, and is also available to purchase via We are The Helpful. This gifted session would be delivered by us and used to show the service in action in a real home.

Who it’s for
A mum-to-be based in Edinburgh, the Lothians or the Scottish Borders, due March or April.

Welcome Home, Little One – Giveaway Terms & Conditions

Promoter
This giveaway is run by Lighten The Load (“the Promoter”) in collaboration with The Helpful. This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Instagram.

Eligibility
The giveaway is open to UK residents aged 18 or over who are based in Edinburgh, the Lothians, or the Scottish Borders. The prize is intended for a mum-to-be due in March or April 2025. Nominations may be made:
• for yourself, or
• for someone else (by friends or family)
Employees of Lighten The Load or The Helpful, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to enter.

How to enter Standard (public) entry route
To enter via the standard route, participants must complete all of the following:
• Like and follow:
• Lighten The Load
• The Helpful
• Comment on the giveaway post, nominating yourself or someone else and briefly explaining why the nominee would benefit
• Share the giveaway post to:
• Instagram feed AND Instagram stories
• Facebook feed AND Facebook stories
• Multiple nominations are permitted.

Anonymous nomination option
We recognise that some people may feel uncomfortable being nominated publicly. In these cases, anonymous nominations are permitted only if the following conditions are met:
• The entrant must still:
• Like and follow Lighten The Load and The Helpful
• Share the giveaway post to their Instagram and Facebook feed and stories
• The nomination and reason must then be sent privately via direct message to Lighten The Load on Instagram or Facebook
• The message must clearly state that the nomination is intended to be anonymous. Anonymous nominations that do not meet these requirements may not be considered.

Opening and closing dates
• The giveaway opens on Wednesday 21 January 2025
• The giveaway closes on Friday 14 February 2025 at 8pm
• Entries submitted after the closing time will not be considered.

Winner selection
The winner will be selected by Lighten The Load from all valid entries after the closing date. The winner will be chosen based on suitability and genuine need, in line with the purpose of the giveaway. The Promoter’s decision is final.
Winner notification The winner will be contacted via direct message on Instagram or Facebook within a few days of the closing date. The winner must respond within 48 hours of being contacted. If no response is received, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner. The winner will then be asked to provide:
• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
This information will be used solely to arrange delivery of the prize.

Prize details
The prize consists of one full-day Welcome Home, Little One organising session, delivered by Lighten The Load. The session includes:

• Assembling flat-pack furniture where required

• Supporting responsible recycling or removal of unwanted items. The session is limited to one day of organising support. There is no cash alternative, and the prize is non-transferable. 

Prize timeframe
The prize must be taken up within three months of the winner being notified, subject to mutual availability. If the prize is not redeemed within this timeframe, the Promoter reserves the right to offer it to another nominee.

Filming and content
By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to:
• Light filming during the session
• Speaking briefly to camera about their experience.
​Content will be shared sensitively across Lighten The Load and The Helpful platforms. Data protection Personal information provided by entrants and the winner will be used solely for the purpose of administering this giveaway and delivering the prize, in accordance with data protection regulations. General The Promoter reserves the right to amend or withdraw this giveaway at any time if circumstances require.
